Early Life and Career

Tom Thibodeau, nicknamed "Thibs," was born on January 17, 1958. He is an American basketball coach who currently serves as the head coach of the New York Knicks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Thibodeau began his coaching career in the 1980s, working as an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Head Coaching Career

In 2010, Thibodeau became the head coach of the Chicago Bulls. During his tenure with the Bulls, he led the team to five playoff appearances, including a berth in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2011. In 2016, Thibodeau was fired from the Bulls and joined the Minnesota Timberwolves as their head coach. He coached the Timberwolves for three seasons before being fired in 2019.

Knicks Head Coach

In 2020, Thibodeau was hired as the head coach of the New York Knicks. In his first season with the Knicks, he led the team to their first playoff appearance since 2013. Under Thibodeau's guidance, the Knicks finished the 2020-21 season with a 41-31 record, their best record since 2012-13.

2020-21 NBA Coach of the Year Award

On June 7, 2021, Thibodeau was named the 2020-21 NBA Coach of the Year. He received 43 first-place votes from a panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters. Thibodeau's award is a testament to his ability to get the most out of his players and his commitment to defense.
